It has about 1,900 inhabitants. Polish minority makes up 31.3% of the population. The name of the municipality is a diminutive form of the word gord (Czech: Hradiště, Polish: Gród).

HUKVALDY
Hukvaldy (German: Hochwald) is a municipality and village in the Frýdek-Místek District in the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 2,100 inhabitants. It lies 150 meters below the ruins of the third-largest castle in the Czech Republic, Hukvaldy Castle, and is the birthplace of the composer Leoš Janáček. Villages of Dolní Sklenov, Horní Sklenov, Krnalovice and Rychaltice are administrative parts of Hukvaldy.
