"Pirate Empress" Boa Hancock[10] is the captain of the Kuja Pirates and was the only female Warlord of the Sea prior to the organization's disbandment. She is the current empress, known as the "Snake Princess", of Amazon Lily [3] and rules over the Kuja tribe with her two younger Gorgon sisters, Boa Sandersonia and Boa Marigold.[3] She was first mentioned by the Risky Brothers at the end of the Thriller Bark Arc when comparing her legendary beauty to the beauty of mermaids.[11] She is the main antagonist of the Amazon Lily Arc, before befriending and falling in love with Monkey D. Luffy in the same arc, becoming his ally during the rest of the Summit War Saga and the Return to Sabaody Arc. She also acts as an ally of Luffy during the 3D2Y special, the Cidre Guild filler Arc, and the movie One Piece: Stampede.

He is the founder and captain of the increasingly infamous and powerful Straw Hat Pirates, as well as one of its top fighters.[24] His lifelong dream is to become the Pirate King by finding the legendary treasure left behind by the late Gol D. Roger.[25] He believes that being Pirate King means having the most freedom in the world.[26] Born in Foosha Village, Luffy is the son of the Revolutionary leader Monkey D. Dragon,[27] the grandson of the Marine hero Monkey D. Garp,[28] the sworn brother of late "Fire Fist" Portgas D. Ace and Revolutionary Chief-of-Staff Sabo, and the foster son of Curly Dadan.
