Mango
Mango is recognized as one of the 3-4 finest tropical fruits. It is a fruit that is obtained from the tree of the same name. It is oval in shape, with inedible skin and variable color from pale yellow to deep red. The pulp is sticky and its color also varies, from yellow to orange. The taste of ripe mango is sweet, and quite acidic when it is still green. It is a juicy and fibrous fruit, and possess an inner stone. Its size varies between 5-20 cm in length, with a weight of 300-400 g, some pieces reaching more than one kilo. Botanically the fruit is called drupe and it is variable in shape and size. Generally ovoid-oblong, conspicuously flattened, rounded or obtuse at both ends, 4-25 cm long and 1.10 cm thick, green, yellowish-green, yellow, or orange in color when ripe, some varieties are tinged purple, red or orange. It is very juicy and tasty; the endocarp is thick and woody with an outer fibrous layer that can extend into the meat. The seed is flattened, covered by the testa and the integument and constituted for the most part by the cotyledons. It does not contain endosperm.
