Takeshi Kitano (北野 武, Kitano Takeshi, born 18 January 1947) is a Japanese comedian, television presenter, actor, filmmaker, and author. While he is known primarily as a comedian and TV host in his native Japan, he is better known abroad for his work as a filmmaker, actor and TV host. With the exception of his works as a film director, he is known almost exclusively by the stage name Beat Takeshi (ビートたけし, Bīto Takeshi). Kitano rose to prominence in the 1970s as one half of the comedy duo Two Beat, before going solo and becoming one of the three biggest comedians in the country. After several small acting roles, he made his directorial debut with 1989's Violent Cop and garnered international acclaim for Sonatine (1993). He was not widely accepted as an accomplished director in Japan until Hana-bi won the Golden Lion in 1997. In October 2017, Kitano completed his Outrage crime trilogy with the release of Outrage Coda. He is also known internationally for hosting the game show Takeshi's Castle (1986–1990) and starring in the film Battle Royale (2000). He has received critical acclaim for his idiosyncratic cinematic work, winning numerous awards with Japanese film critic Nagaharu Yodogawa having once dubbed him "the true successor" to influential filmmaker Akira Kurosawa. Many of Kitano's films are dramas about yakuza gangsters or the police. Described by critics as using an acting style that is highly deadpan or a camera style that approaches near-stasis, Kitano often uses long takes during which little appears to be happening, or editing that cuts immediately to the aftermath of an event. Many of his films express a bleak worldview, but are also filled with humor and affection for their characters.

Jonathan Kite (born September 2, 1979) is an American actor, comedian and impressionist. He is perhaps best known for his role as Oleg Golishevsky on 2 Broke Girls. Kite grew up in Skokie, Illinois, the son of Lynn and David Kite. He attended Old Orchard Junior High and Niles North High School. He has a theater degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. His family is Jewish. From 2011 to 2017, Kite co-starred on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, playing the role of Oleg Golishevsky, the creepy Ukrainian cook who works at the diner. Other television work includes guest roles on Raising Hope, Kickin' It, American Dad!, The Life & Times of Tim, In the Flow with Affion Crockett, and Wizards of Waverly Place. In addition, he also appeared in several commercials such as spots for AT&T and Muscle Milk. As a stand-up comedian, Kite is best known for his impersonations, boasting over 120 celebrity impressions that include Vince Vaughn, Tom Hanks, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, Robert Downey Jr., Seth Rogen, Mark Wahlberg, Ian McKellen, Jeff Bridges and Liam Neeson. Outside of acting, Kite and his former 2 Broke Girls co-star Matthew Moy appeared on Hell's Kitchen when they attended dinner service in the Season 17 episode "Stars Heating Up Hell". Kite voices two characters in the animated show Cleopatra in Space: Octavian and Trumpet Guy.
