Cameron Palmer was Kiden Nixon's teacher. One day at school, a student Kiden had had a fight with brought a gun to school and tried to shoot her, but Kiden used her powers to slow time and dodge the bullet, and Cameron was shot instead.[1]
Six months later, Cameron, despite having survived, had quit her job and fallen into a depression worsened by her recent divorce. She attempted suicide, but was found and saved by Kiden, who had run away from home after the incident.[1]
After recovering in the hospital, Kiden told Cameron she was a mutant, but she didn't believe her and ordered her to return home to her mother. That night, Kiden left to find the hotel where X-23 was prostituting herself and Cameron found the address in her notebook and followed her there. They both found X-23 cutting herself over the body of a client who committed suicide in front of her.[2]
The trio fled and Kiden explained how she saw the ghost of her father and he told her to find Cameron and X-23.[3] In Cameron's apartment, Kiden saw her father's ghost warn her to flee with the Cameron and X-23, as the latter's pimp Zebra Daddy and his henchmen were targeting her for supposedly killing a john. They fled to the streets and later collided with Tatiana, a young mutant running to escape harassment from a crowd of humans. The crowd fled when Tatiana achieved a monstrous cat form, but X-23 managed to calm her down and regress back to her true form.
