Cal'syee Neramani (Earth-295)
Former ruler of the Shi'ar Empire, Deathbird was dethroned by her evil brother D'Ken who also murdered her sister Lilandra. Ultimately, she joined the Starjammers a group of space pirates who were determined to overthrow D'Ken. This mission become all the more dire when D'Ken began tampering with the M'kraan Crystal, threatening to destroy all reality.[1] When Gambit and his X-Ternals ended up in Shi'Ar space seeking out a chunk of the crystal to repair the fractured timeline, they clashed with D'Ken's Imperial Guard. They were pulled from the battle by Deathbird and the Starjammers just as the unstable M'Kraan Crystal crystallized most of the Shi'ar homeworld.[1] Deathbird accompanied the X-Ternals to the surface of the world where the M'Kraan crystal was located, and while the other X-Ternals held off the planet's defenders, Gambit, Lila Cheney and Deathbird attempted to approach the crystal. There, they were pulled into the M'Kraan Crystal, where Lila and Deathbird were frozen by the crystal. Gambit managed to collect a shard of the crystal and free Lila; however Deathbird's fate remains unrevealed.

Cal'syee Neramani (Earth-616)
Born as Cal'syee Neramani, she was the eldest child of the Majestor Neramani and thus the heir of the Shi'ar Empire's throne.[8][9] Cal'syee was born with atavistic features and was fiercily proud of it.[10] Unfortunately, the atavism also caused her to experience fits of uncontrollable rage that eventually forced Cal'syee to kill her mother and younger sister.[8][9] For these crimes she was stripped of her name and became known as Deathbird. She lost the right to the throne and was exiled from the Shi'ar Empire. Deathbird reached Earth trying to get some supplies for her ship, and she encountered superheroes Ms Marvel and Hawkeye, and allied herself with M.O.D.O.K.. Later, she escaped from Earth. Wanting the throne, she rebelled against D'Ken, who was emperor at the time, and allied herself with the Brood to usurp him and, later, Lilandra (who succeeded D'Ken).[13] She eventually usurped the throne and became empress of Shi'ar,[14] although she had to face many rebellions. A group of Skrulls maimed her wings and forced her to abdicate in their favor.[15] Deathbird sought the help of Lilandra's allies the X-Men but, once the Skrulls were removed from the throne, Deathbird chose not to sit on it, and she abdicated again in favor of Lilandra.[16] Due to her surprisingly good job while reigning, once the Kree-Shi'ar War was over, Lilandra named Deathbird viceroy of the recently annexed Kree Empire.
