"Cain (Earth-199999)" VS "Cain Marko (Earth-616)"

Cain was a Chronicom Hunter who served under Luke in the Chronicoms' efforts to enable their takeover of Earth by changing the history of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Luke, Cain and Abel were sent to 1931 to assassinate Wilfred "Freddy" Malick, a future Head of Hydra and father of Gideon Malick, before Hydra would become the serious threat that S.H.I.E.L.D. would be empowered to fight. To accomplish this, the Chronicoms stole the faces of the NYPD officers so they could infiltrate a campaign event for then-Governor Franklin Delano Roosevelt where Freddy was tending bar. However, S.H.I.E.L.D. agents followed the Chronicoms into the past, and were onto the Chronicoms' plan when the police officers' faceless bodies were discovered. Cain and Abel ambushed the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Daisy Johnson and Deke Shaw while they were investigating the crime scene. Agents Johnson and Shaw disabled Cain's body, and escaped him him while Abel was held back. They brought Abel back to the Zephyr, where S.H.I.E.L.D. scientst Jemma Simmons examined him to find clues about the Chronicoms' plans. Simmons' methods forced Cain to reveal that Freddy, not FDR, was their target, but were so brutal that Cain was destroyed.

Cain Marko is the son of Dr. Kurt Marko, who was an atomic researcher, and Marjorie Marko. Cain's parents separated, and his mother died when he was three. Cain was eventually sent to boarding schools, which he continued to get expelled from.[citation needed] Dr. Marko's wealthy colleague, Dr. Brian Xavier, another atomic researcher, died in an accident, and Dr. Marko eventually married his widow, Sharon Xavier, for her great wealth. On marrying Sharon, Dr. Marko moved into her large Westchester County mansion, and, after yet another expulsion from school, eventually moved Cain in also.[8] Dr. Marko favored his gentle, smart step-son, Charles Xavier, to his own son, which led to Cain bullying the young Charles and Dr. Marko secretly beating Cain. Cain was abusive to his stepbrother at every opportunity. Charles' telepathic powers began emerging when he was still a boy, around ten, and, on one occasion, he found himself experiencing the anguished thoughts and emotions of Cain; after Cain had been beaten by his father. The inexperienced young Charles could not control or end his contact with Cain's mind at this time. Somehow, Cain sensed that Charles was reading his mind and had discovered his secret shame.
