Aimi Yoshida was smuggled out of Japan by her mutant parents before the entire family could be rounded up and incarcerated in the new mutant camps. Aimi arrived in San Francisco hidden on a tanker ship. She was too young and frightened to appreciate her parents’ motivations for sending her away, and instead felt only the bitterness and anger of abandonment. Psychic Resistance: Aimi has the ability to resist the psychic influence of Luis Reyes. This does not appear to be a total mental block as other psychics, such as Emma Frost, can still communicate with her telepathically. Enhanced Strength: While not to the extent of other mutants with Super Strength, Aimi has been shown to be capable of breaking through damaged pavements and rooftops in order to access the spaces beneath without doing herself any noticeable harm.

Once, when their village was going through a terrible drought, Storm commanded rain for days just to help them. By doing this, she threw off the natural order of nature, and droughts were formed over numerous other villages, and hundreds of animals were killed. Sensing the damage she had done, Ainet told Storm of her kind but an ill-thought-out gesture, and of the damage she caused. Ainet took this opportunity to explain to Ororo how her powers worked with nature, and how she could fix the problem by properly distributing rain.
