Alberto Pedro Spencer Herrera (6 December 1937 – 3 November 2006) was an Ecuadorian-Uruguayan footballer who played as a forward, regarded as the best Ecuadorian footballer of all time. He is probably best known for his still-standing record for scoring the most goals in the Copa Libertadores, the most important club tournament in South America. He was elected the 20th best South American footballer of the 20th century in a poll by the IFFHS in 2004.[1] He was known as "Cabeza Mágica" (Spanish for magic head). orn in Ancón, Guayas, Ecuador, Spencer was the son of a Jamaican of British origin.[2] He was an ambidextrous striker with lethal pace, off-the-ball movement, heading and balance skills, and excellent finishing that tore defences to shreds for over a decade. After his retirement in 1973, he lived in Montevideo, Uruguay. In 1982, he was appointed consul of Ecuador in Uruguay. Spencer suffered a heart attack on 13 September 2006 during a routine checkup with his cardiologist. He died on 3 November 2006 in the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, United States. His lineage survives through his Chilean wife María Teresa, his children Alberto, Walter, Jacqueline, and his grandchildren.

Álex Dario Aguinaga Garzón (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈaleks aɣiˈnaɣa]; born July 9, 1968 in Ibarra) is an Ecuadorian retired football midfielder. As a player, he is one of the all-time cap leaders for Ecuador with 109 matches, scoring 23 goals.[1] Aguinaga is known as one of the best Ecuadorian footballers of all time. On the club level, Aguinaga has played for Deportivo Quito, Necaxa, Cruz Azul and LDU Quito. Aguinaga spent the majority of his club career at Necaxa, whom he joined in 1989, winning 3 championships with the club. In 1999 Aguinaga was crucial for Necaxa's first CONCACAF Champions Cup title. Necaxa would go on to participate in the first edition of the FIFA Club World Cup where in the group stage Aguinaga scored against Vasco da Gama, but missed a penalty against Manchester United.[2] He scored in the penalty shootout against Real Madrid in the 3rd place match.[3] Aguinaga played for his country in the 2002 FIFA World Cup at the age of 34. He also holds a Mexican passport. His grandfather is of Spanish descent. After winning a league title in Ecuador, Aguinaga decided to retire from football. Aguinaga earned his first cap for Ecuador on March 5, 1987. In the same match, he scored his first goal for the team. Over the year, he would form an integral part of the national team. He would captain the team for a number of years and assisted in the goal by Iván Kaviedes that assured Ecuador's first qualification to the FIFA World Cup in 2002.
